The summer movie season continues this weekend when we go back to medieval times with a new telling of the King Arthur tale based on the Arthurian legends. Brought to you by Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Sherlock Holmes I & II, and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.), the film will be the first time since Antoine Fuqua’s take on the character back in 2004. The synopsis for the movie reads:
When the child, Arthur’s, father is murdered, Vortigern, Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulled the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.
The film stars former Sons of Anarchy leading man Charlie Hunnam in the titular role as King Arthur. Rounding out the supporting cast for this movie is the likes of Idris Elba, Jude Law, Eric Bana, Aiden Gillen, and Djimon Hounsou.
