In one of the more important releases in comic book movie history, Wonder Woman is set to make her solo debut on the big screen after a highly acclaimed appearance in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Patty Jenkins, who has been successful with films like Monster and television shows like Arrested Development, Entourage, The Killing, is in the director chair for the first female led superhero movie in the new age of comic book films.
The film will take us back to days of World War I, where we meet a young Diana as she is raised on Themyscira by the Amazons and trained to become a warrior. When her home and the world at large is threatened, she must fulfill her destiny bestowed on her by the gods and leave her home to the outside world for the first time and in doing so will take her first steps to becoming Wonder Woman.
The film stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, and Danny Huston and currently holds a 96% Rotten Tomato rating ahead of it’s Friday release. Many believe this is the first sign of a positive future for the DC Extended Universe that got off to a rocky start with BvS and Suicide Squad.
