Everyone’s favorite web-slinger is back on the silver screen with a new solo franchise, only now it takes place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Jon Watts, the film is set to be the one installment of a currently planned 5-movie story arc for the character in the MCU.
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man, who made his memorable debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May, under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark. Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture emerges as a new villain, everything Peter holds most important will be threatened.
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man is set to have a supporting role in the movie. Joining them is a nicely stacked supporting cast which includes Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Jon Favreau, Donald Glover, and Michael Keaton as the villain Adrian Toomes, aka The Vulture! The film currently has a certified fresh 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes leading up to the widely-anticipated Friday release.
In theaters July 7th!
