The 2017 summer is winding down, just like the month of July in movies, as we see the release of the action blockbuster known as Atomic Blonde. Based on the graphic novel “The coldest city”, the film is directed by David Leitch, best known for directing the 2014 hit action flick John Wick, as well as the upcoming anticipated Deadpool 2. The premise for the movie reads:
The crown jewel of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service, Agent Lorraine Broughton is equal parts spy craft, sensuality, and savagery, willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on her impossible mission. Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.
The film stars Charlize Theron as Agent Broughton and James McAvoy as chief Davis Percival. Also joining them is Sofia Boutella, Lorraine Broughton, John Goodman, Toby Jones, and Eddie Marsan. Atomic Blonde currently sits at 78% on Rotten Tomatoes, a respectable number for what looks like a fun action movie in the way John Wick was fun when it was released.
In theaters July 28th.
